Detectives Investigating Fatal Collision on Aurora

Seattle police detectives are investigating a fatal collision involving a Seattle fire truck on Aurora Avenue North this morning.

At 4:59 a.m., patrol officers responded to a collision at North 128th Street and Aurora Avenue North. There, police found a Chevrolet Malibu crashed into a Seattle Fire Department (SFD) ladder truck.

Firefighters provided medical treatment to the Malibu’s driver. Despite all life-saving efforts, they pronounced him deceased at the scene. The car’s passenger sustained injuries and SFD treated him and transported him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

SFD reported no injuries to their crew.

Police determined that the SFD truck was making a right turn, southbound on Aurora Avenue from 128th, when the Malibu, going south on Aurora at a high rate-of-speed, collided into the fire truck.

The King County Medical Examiner took custody of the deceased and will determine the cause and manner of death.

Officers cordoned off the area and Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) detectives processed the scene. If anyone has information, they are asked to call TCIS at 206-684-8923.
