Video: Two Brothers Arrested During Narcotics Operation in the Chinatown-International District

Seattle police narcotics detectives arrested two brothers, 42, and 48, during a narcotics operation in the Chinatown-International District yesterday morning.

On Sept. 3, at about 10:30 a.m., narcotics detectives completed their investigation into the brothers selling drugs out of a custom auto body garage in the 700 block of South Jackson Street.

While conducting surveillance, detectives saw multiple drug users entering the business to purchase narcotics. The business had many daily customers coming to buy methamphetamine.

Community Response Group (CRG) officers served the detectives’ search warrant and arrested both suspects.

According to the police report, “At the conclusion of the search, officers and detectives located a significant amount of suspected narcotics, multiple firearms…and a large amount of ammunition.”

Police recovered:

  • Multiple handguns, ammunition
  • 151.7g Cocaine
  • 7.4 g Methamphetamine
  • $6,922 US Currency
  • Two digital scales with narcotics residue

Detectives in the General Investigations Unit (GIU) responded to see if any of the electric bicycles inside were stolen or connected to any GIU investigations. They recovered a stolen bike.

Police booked them into the King County Jail on narcotics charges in Violation of the Uniformed Controlled Substances Act. Detectives will also refer criminal charges, for the 48-year-old who owned the business, for Unlawful use of a building for drug purposes.

Police detained other individuals found inside while they did their investigation. Detectives interviewed and later released them.

The Narcotics Unit thanked the efforts of CRG and GIU. “The arrest of these two brothers will give some relief to the residents and legitimate businesses in the International District,” said Lt. Jim Kelly, from the SPD Narcotics Unit.
