Seattle police officers on the Belltown proactive team arrested a 34-year-old man in possession of drugs, cash, and armed with a gun in Downtown Seattle last night.
On Sept. 28 at about 8:00 p.m., patrol officers working in the area of 3rd Avenue and Pine Street saw a man standing on the corner holding drug paraphernalia in his hand. The suspect began jogging away from officers when he saw them, yet they quickly arrested him.
Officers identified the suspect as having both felony and misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. According to the police report, “Narcotics dealers are often armed and have large amounts of cash as well as narcotics on their person.”
Police recovered a handgun, $203 cash, and 0.9 grams of Fentanyl from the suspect. Officers booked the suspect into the King County Jail for weapons and narcotics violations. The suspect, a convicted felon, is prohibited from having guns.
The Belltown proactive team worked to address street crimes near 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street and the Pike and Pine Street areas, making seven additional arrests for drug violations.
Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are assigned to this case.
