Seattle police detectives are investigating a fatal collision involving a 31-year-old man in South Seattle last night.
On Oct. 10 at 10:45 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a collision into a pedestrian near Martin Luther King Jr. Way South (MLK) and Rainier Avenue South.
The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and provided medical care to the victim. Despite all life-saving efforts, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and SFD pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Police cordoned off the area and detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) arrived and processed the scene.
Detectives determined that a car traveling southbound on MLK fatally struck the man, laying in the roadway for unknown reasons, after passing through Rainier Ave S. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police. Officers evaluated him and found no signs of impairment. They did not arrest him.
The King County Medical Examiner will take custody of the deceased and determine the cause and manner of death.
