Seattle police officers arrested a 39-year-old man for stabbing another man in Pioneer Square this afternoon.
At about 2: 00 p.m., a man waved down patrol officers in the 500 block of 3rd Avenue, reporting to them that he had just been stabbed. The victim told officers that the suspect approached him, asking for drugs. When he told the suspect that he did not have any drugs, the man stabbed him before running away on 3rd Avenue.
The Seattle Fire Department treated the victim for a stab wound to his upper leg. An ambulance later transported the 34-year-old man to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in stable condition.
While investigating, the suspect came back into the area and ran past officers, who quickly arrested him without incident. According to the police report, the suspect “kept saying how he did not stab anyone.” Officers recovered two knives as evidence.
Police took the suspect to the King County Jail (KCJ) where he was medically declined for a previous injury. They took him to HMC for evaluation. Once discharged, officers booked him into KCJ for felony assault.
Detectives in the Homicide and Assault Unit are assigned to this case.
