Seattle police detectives are investigating a shooting Tuesday evening in the Rainier Vista neighborhood that left a 17-year-old boy seriously injured and later placed into custody on unrelated robbery charges.
At 7:10 p.m., dispatchers received reports of gunfire near 30th Avenue South and South Adams Street. Officers arrived and found the teen with gunshot wounds to his back.
Police provided medical aid until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and transported him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU), working with Robbery Unit detectives, learned the teen was wanted in connection with an unrelated robbery. Officers placed him into custody and is currently under hospital guard.
GVRU detectives continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
