Seattle police arrested a 25-year-old man for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Reckless Driving after he crashed into two cars in the Magnolia neighborhood Saturday night.
On Dec. 6 at about 11:40 p.m., patrol officers responded to a vehicle collision in the 3400 block of West Viewmont Way West. Officers say a Nissan Rogue crashed into two other parked vehicles, a Nissan Leaf and a BMW sedan. The Nissan Rogue was found flipped sideways against a power pole. According to the police report, the Rogue driver was “heavily intoxicated.” Multiple 12-ounce beer cans were found on the ground near his car.
Seattle Fire Department (SFD) had to cut the man out of his vehicle. SFD transported him to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The man has since been released from the hospital.
Police are requesting that the Seattle City Attorney file criminal charges for DUI and Reckless driving. Police also cited the man for:
- Speed Too Fast for Road/Conditions
- Open Alcohol Container in Moving Vehicle
The multi-car crash caused a significant road closure, as the pole was nearly severed in half. The December DUI Emphasis team assisted in the investigation.
Detectives in the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad are assigned to this case.

For the first time since 2019, SPD has a dedicated a team of officers to watching for intoxicated drivers during the holiday season.
Between Dec. 3-7, the DUI Empasis teams, working nightly from 6 p.m. until 4 a.m. throughout the city, have already made 175 police contacts. SPD Officers have since made 27 DUI arrests and written 123 citations for traffic infractions – mostly for speeding.
