At 0010 hours, two community members in a dating relationship were exiting their Uber when the suspect looked at them and yelled a homophobic slur. He then assaulted them by spitting on them. Officers arrived and took the suspect into custody for Hate Crime offense. While enroute to KCJ the suspect also spit on an officer. 253 was notified of the hate crime and assault on officer. Bias notifications were made.

At 1941 hours, two males who used masks, hoodies, and beanies to conceal their identities entered a sporting goods store at Westwood Village while armed with a knife, a crowbar, and a window breaker. They shattered a display case holding BB and pellet guns and then stole six BB pistols and two BB double barrel shotguns, which they loaded into a suitcase before they fled the store on foot. Weather conditions and time delay made a K-9 track impractical.

At 2111 hours, officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 6500 block of Woodland Place North. Officers contacted the victim and the reporting party and developed probable cause to arrest a 45-year-old man for domestic violence assault. The suspect, who was still inside the victim’s residence, refused to exit and made several statements about self-harm and threatened suicide by cop. The street was closed for public safety purposes and police established containment and had contact and arrest teams in place. HNT responded, as did 223, 271 and SWAT. After a lengthy standoff, the suspect was successfully taken into custody by SWAT. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for DV assault 4 and two SMC warrants.
