#2026-433/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch/W2:

At 1149 hours, Officers were dispatched to a public parking garage for reports of a subject armed with a Taser and a knife, threatening a homeless person and armed security for that property. Officers quickly arrived and took control of the scene. During the investigation, officers learned the suspect, based on his own statements, targeted the victim because he was homeless. Management of the property also stated they’ve had issues with the suspect harassing the homeless in the parking garage. After interviewing all involved and reviewing video footage. It was determined the suspect lunged at the homeless person with a taser, attempting to tase them. The suspect was arrested for felony assault and malicious harassment.

#2026-421/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch/F1:

At 1129 hours, officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle call. The caller stated there was an occupied that drove on the walking trail in a wooded area and appears to be stuck. Caller stated the driver appeared to be smoking something. When officers arrived, they attempted to knock on the vehicle but quickly recognized there was a larger than normal amount of smoke in the vehicle (cargo van). Officers checked to make sure there was nobody inside and it was unoccupied. The rear window broke out, due to the fire and officers observed the lone rear seat was on fire and there was some sort of device with wires coming out of it, underneath the seat. They backed away from the vehicle to get to a safe distance. While moving away from the vehicle there was a significant explosion inside. ABS was called and responded to the scene. It was determined there was an improvised incendiary device at the seat that exploded to create the larger fire that fully engulfed the van. SFD arrived on-scene and was able to extinguish the fire. No citizens or officers were injured from the explosion.

#2026-649/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch/F2:

At 1694 hours, officers were dispatched to a threat call, stating there was a male with a gun, threatening armed security. It was updated that the suspect left and passed the gun off to his female companion. Officers quickly arrived in the area and setup containment. Containment officers observed possible suspects in the containment area. Those suspects ran and a foot pursuit was initiated. Both suspects were caught and detained. Armed security positively identified both suspects. Officers then recovered a stolen gun from the suspects property. The gun matched the description provided by security.

#2026-825/East Precinct/Third Watch/E1:

At 2032 hours, a man called 911 to report that he and his girlfriend needed SFD aid. SFD requested SPD join. On arrival, the female suspect punched a firefighter in the face when they knocked on the door to offer aid. Officers detained her, in the process she slapped an officer in the face. Both the male and female subjects reported they started the new year by “microdosing” about 2 quarts of psilocybin mushrooms and smoking marijuana. The female was arrested for 2 counts of assault 3, and the male was hospitalized due to his mental state. The firefighter sustained pain and redness to her face, and the officer sustained pain and redness to his face. SFD Battalion Chief 2 on scene, 243 notified.

#2026-818/West Precinct/Third Watch/D2:

At 2008 hours, suspect started an intentional fire in his unit on the 32nd floor of the building before fleeing. SFD was able to extinguish the fire. Fire Marshal 5 responded to the scene and determined the fire was intentionally set. There was significant water damage affecting units from the 32nd floor all the way into the parking garage. Suspect was located three blocks away trapped in thick brush on a hillside with a broken foot. SFD Technical Rescue units were required to extract the suspect who was then placed under arrest and transported to HMC where is currently under guard. Incident screened with 213 and ABS.

#2026-283/West Precinct/First Watch/K1:

At 0555 hours, SFD responded to an in-progress fire in the West Precinct area. Upon further investigation, the SFD Fire Marshal 5 determined the fire was arson and requested SPD to conduct a dual investigation. The suspect was identified but fled the scene before SPD’s arrival. Approximately five hours later, the suspect returned and was arrested without further incident. The suspect was declined at the jail due to high blood pressure and subsequently booked into KCJ after a hospital visit. The incident was screened with ABS.
