Seattle Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in Identifying the two suspects responsible for the fatal stabbing at about 4:00 a.m. on June 22, 2025.
The stabbing occurred in the alley south/north of Northeast 50th Street and east of University Way Northeast (See Map).
After Fernando Castillo was stabbed, he walked half a block to the 4700 block of University Way Northeast before collapsing. Despite all life-saving efforts he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Harborview Medical Center.

Seattle police detectives are investigating a homicide in the University District this morning.
At about 4:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a man down in the 4700 block of University Way Northeast. There, they located a victim on the sidewalk with life-threatening injuries.
The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) provided emergency medical treatment on scene. SFD transported him to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in critical condition. Despite all life-saving efforts, doctors pronounced him deceased at HMC.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will take custody of the man’s body and determine the cause and manner of death.
Police cordoned off the area and the Homicide and Crime Scene Investigations Units arrived to process the scene. The circumstances leading up to the incident are under investigation.
