#2026-27318/South Precinct/Third Watch/R2:
At 2054 hours, officers on-viewed an occupied suspicious vehicle without plates illegally parked. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the driver of the vehicle making a furtive movement towards the floorboard of the vehicle. The driver exited the vehicle quickly to meet the officers with an explanation that he had an open container. One of the officers noticed a gun on the floorboard where the subject was seated. The officer attempted to separate the subject from within reaching distance of the handgun. The subject resisted, the officer sustained an injury during the struggle. A less lethal deployment occurred and the subject was arrested. SFD on scene. Screened with 233 and GVRU. Search warrant for the vehicle was completed. Subject was medically declined at KCJ. Hospital guard established and ongoing at time of this SIR. Officer will recover.
