Two People Injured in Central District Shooting

Seattle police detectives are investigating a shooting that injured two people in the Central District this afternoon. 

At about 2:45 p.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of South Jackson Street. There, officers found a man and a woman inside of a 3rd floor apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police provided emergency medical treatment to the victims.

The Seattle Fire Department arrived and took over care. Medics transported the victims to Harborview Medical Center, the woman in serious condition and the man in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The suspects, believed to be a man and a woman, fled the area on foot before officers arrived. A police K9 team attempted to track the suspects, but officers did not locate them. Police did not make any arrests.

A nearby middle school placed their students on lockdown during the emergency response as a precautionary measure. The school lifted the lockdown after officers safely secured the area.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. Anonymous tips are accepted.

Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are assigned to this case.
