Seattle police officers arrested a half-naked 49-year-old man after he fired a gun at a Rainier Beach liquor store employee Monday evening.
On Feb. 23 at about 5:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting inside of a business in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South. There, officers met with the uninjured victim and found the suspect still inside of the store.
Police determined that the man entered the liquor store and began causing a disturbance. He started opening alcohol bottles from the display cases and drinking them without paying. He then began removing his clothing including his shirt, shoes, and pants.
When the store clerk confronted him, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired it at the clerk, narrowly missing him. The victim fled the store and called 911.
Officers arrived within minutes, formed a tactical team, and approached the suspect. Police arrested him without incident and recovered the gun.
Officers also recovered marijuana and a modified cigarette from the suspect, believed to be “stuffed with PCP,” according to the police report.
Officers booked the suspect into the King County Jail for felony assault.
