Police Investigate Northgate Collision That Sends Three to Hospital

Seattle police are investigating a two-car collision late Monday night in the Northgate neighborhood that left three people injured.

Shortly before 11 p.m., officers responded to reports of a crash at Aurora Avenue North and North 105th Street involving two vehicles, one of which struck a building.

Officers and Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and found a blue Subaru wedged between a building and a gray Hyundai. The Subaru’s 66-year-old male driver and 58-year-old female passenger were inside. A 30-year-old woman drove the Hyundai.

Aid was provided at the scene and all three were transported to Harborview Medical Center. Medical staff are evaluating the 66-year-old man for a serious head injury. The 58-year-old woman and the 30-year-old woman sustained minor injuries.

Patrol officers cordoned off the area, and detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded to process the scene.

Witnesses said the Subaru was traveling southbound on Aurora Avenue North at North 105th Street when the Hyundai, traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, struck it from behind. The impact pushed the Subaru approximately 80 to 100 feet before it came to rest against the building.

Police are evaluating the Hyundai driver for possible impairment.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact TCIS at (206) 684-8923.
