#2026-82268/East Precinct/Third Watch/C2:
At 0125 hours, officers responded to the 1700 block of 17 Ave to reports of someone shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male victim inside one of the apartment units in the block with a GSW to the head. The victim was alert and conscious while with officers. Officers provided aid until SFD arrived and transported the victim to HMC in critical condition. After examining the scene and interviewing witnesses, it was determined this was a suicide attempt. The firearm used was recovered from the apartment unit. As of this writing, the victim is in critical but stable condition. GVRU responded to assist with interviews and scene processing.
#2026-82216/West Precinct/Third Watch/Q2:
At 2300 hours, third watch West Precinct officers were tracking a stolen vehicle throughout the West Precinct. Officers were familiar with the suspect and knew he would flee from a traffic stop. They diligently followed from a distance and waited until the suspect stopped at a gas station in the East Precinct. A contact team was formed, and two suspects were safely taken into custody outside the vehicle. The stolen vehicle had several stolen plates in the vehicle which the suspect was swapping throughout the evening. Search incident to arrest a 9mm handgun was located in the stolen vehicle. Two male suspects were booked into KCJ for a felony warrant, firearm offenses and possessing a stolen vehicle. A female in the backseat was I and R from the scene. Investigation suggests the two suspects were committing burglaries/car prowls all over the West Precinct. It should be noted RTCC played a massive role in maintaining visual on these prolific burglaries and they were taken into custody because of the assistance of RTCC.
