Seattle police officers arrested a 32-year-old man with multiple felony warrants last night after he shoplifted, broke into a vehicle, and ran from officers in South Seattle.
On April 7, at about 8:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a man breaking into an SUV in the 3800 block of Rainier Avenue South. When they arrived, the man took off running, initiating a foot chase down Rainier Avenue. The man threw down his backpack as he ran away.
Police found him hiding under a van parked nearby. The man was wanted for $70,000 in felony warrants for theft, vehicle prowling, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
After catching the suspect, police retraced their steps and recovered the suspect’s backpack. Inside, officers recovered stolen store merchandise from Ross. The man also took a battery jump starter during the car prowl.
Police booked the suspect into the King County Jail for his warrants, shoplifting, and vehicle prowling.
Detectives in the General Investigations Unit are assigned to this case.
