Seattle police arrested a 55-year-old felon armed with a hatchet, after being caught on camera this morning smashing into a Queen Anne business and stealing alcohol.
At about 3:00 a.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a man breaking into a restaurant in the 200 block of 1st Avenue West. Arriving officers quickly found the suspect in a nearby alleyway and arrested him.
Police recovered the hatchet and $160 worth of liquor bottles hidden near a trash bin. Cops also recovered fentanyl from the suspect.
Officers photographed the business. The damage is estimated to be about $800. Police returned the alcohol to the restaurant and submitted the weapon and drugs into evidence.
The suspect, a convicted felon for theft and possession of stolen property, had two arrest warrants for felony theft and criminal trespassing. Police booked him into the King County Jail.
Detectives in the General Investigations Unit are assigned to this case.
