At 2000 hours, East Precinct officers and GIU worked together for a retail theft operation at the Walgreens, in the 500 block of 15th Avenue East. A total of 13 arrests were made to include theft and warrant arrests. Approximately $600 in stolen merchandise was recovered.

At 1315 hours, officers were dispatched to assist King County DCR with a court ordered ITA. King County DCR and the officers contacted the subject outside of his building. The subject stated he would not comply with the court order and would not go to the hospital. The subject then began to walk away. As officers attempted to detain him, the subject began to resist. The subject then lunged at one of the officers and attempted to grab the officer’s firearm. The attempt was unsuccessful. The subject was taken into custody. The subject was transported to Virginia Mason Hospital for further medical evaluation. Once medically cleared, the subject was booked into the King County Jail.

At 2212 hours, multiple callers were received by 911 about hearing shots fired in the area. Officers conducted an area search and located evidence in the 4800 block of Cheasty Blvd South. No victims and no property damage were found. Officers photographed the scene, collected the evidence, and submitted the evidence. GVRU notified via email.

At 2312 hours, a man was approached by a stranger in the 1000 block of South Cloverdale Street. The stranger asked the man a question while racking a firearm he held in front of him at waist level. When the victim answered, the suspect then fired a single round into the air from approximately two feet away. The victim ran off and the suspect left eastbound on foot. The suspect was not located during a subsequent search. GVRU was notified.
