A 31-year-old man was arrested after he stabbed a 21-year-old man following a disturbance late Tuesday night, at Gas Works Park.
At about 10:34 p.m., dispatchers received reports of a stabbing in the 2100 block of Northlake Way (Gas Works Park). Officers arrived and found a man suffering from a laceration to his lower abdomen. Officers provided aid until Seattle Fire Department arrived and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Officers cordoned off the area and interviewed witnesses.
The investigation revealed that the victim was in his tent when he heard a loud disturbance nearby. When he stepped outside, he saw the suspect arguing with several people about using outlets in a park restroom to charge phones. The victim approached the suspect and attempted to defuse the situation. During the encounter, the suspect stabbed the victim and left the park on a bicycle.
Officers located the suspect several blocks away and took him into custody.
Detectives with the Homicide and Assault Unit are leading the investigation and will work to determine what led to the assault.
Officers transported the suspect to King County Jail, where he was booked for investigation of assault.
