Seattle police arrested a 38-year-old man on Thursday Wednesday night after he robbed a local grocery store and shot at a delivery driver.
Around 10:27 p.m., a grocery store clerk dialed 911 after a man pushed his way through the locked front door. The business was open to customers, but the entrance has to be unlocked by a store employee. While holding a handgun, the suspect threatened to shoot and rob the clerk for liquor.
After the man left the store, several officers heard a gunshot nearby. As police searched for the suspect, a frantic victim waved down officers. With the help of a bilingual officer, the victim was able to say that he had been punched and shot at by the same suspect.
When officers found the suspect, he fled from police and dropped his gun while running. He was caught several blocks away and arrested.
The 38-year-old man was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to prior felony convictions. Officers booked the man into King County Jail for robbery, felony assault, and possessing the firearm.
Detectives with the Robbery and Gun Violence Reduction Unit will be conducting the follow-up investigation.
