On November 28th, at around 4:00 P.M., a citizen waiting at the bus stop near the Northgate Transit Center was robbed at gun point by a unknown man who then entered the Northgate Mall’s south entrance. The suspect was armed with a handgun, and robbed the victim of his cash. Officers were notified of the crime approximately ten minutes after it occurred. Patrol officers contacted the victim and obtained as much information from the victim as possible. The suspect’s description was then passed along to mall security, fellow patrol officers, and the Transit Police, in case any one of these agencies might spot this suspect, described as a black male, 20’s, wearing a dark baseball cap, dark jacket, jeans, and tall, anywhere from 6’2″ to 6′ 5″ in height. At no time was the mall evacuated or placed in a “lockdown” -type situation. This was merely a case of a street robbery that happened to take place across the street from a crowded shopping mall. It is believed that the suspect then entered the mall to effect his getaway. Officers did search the area for the suspect, but to no avail.
