Detectives Investigating Shooting in SODO

Seattle police detectives are investigating after a 21-year-old man was shot in the SODO district this morning.

At about 2:50 a.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting near the 100 block of South Horton Street. Police located a victim in the 3200 block of Occidental Avenue South with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder.

Officers provided medical aid to the victim until the Seattle Fire Department arrived and continued treatment. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in serious but stable condition.

While investigating, police learned that a large fight disturbance occurred after a nearby nightclub let out just prior to the shooting. Over 40 rounds were fired. The shell casings were collected as evidence along with a vehicle that was seized by police awaiting a search warrant.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to process the crime scene. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation.
