On Saturday morning around 4 a.m., a man called 911 and told dispatch that he had struck a pedestrian in the road while driving northbound on 15th Avenue Northwest.
Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and found a deceased man in the middle of the northbound lanes of 15th Avenue Northwest, just north of Northwest 51st Street.
A witness told police that the victim had been acting erratically while walking northbound on the sidewalk. He suddenly ran into the road and was struck by the driver’s vehicle. The 54-year-old driver immediately pulled over and called for assistance.
The driver stayed on scene and cooperated fully with the investigation. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the driver and did not suspect impairment.
Detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to investigate the collision and will be responsible for the follow-up investigation.
