On November 12th at approximately 2:30 AM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to a one vehicle collision on Aurora Avenue N that resulted in the death of the driver. It appears the vehicle struck a light pole and a fire hydrant splitting the vehicle in two. Seattle Fire Medics arrived on scene and and determined that the driver had been killed instantly. Traffic Collision Investigaton Squad detectives shut down the southbound lanes of Aurora, detouring traffic onto Dexter Avenue, to conduct their follow-up investigation.
The southbound lanes of Aurora Avenue were reopened at 7:15 AM. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, although excessive speed does appear to be a factor.
