Double fatality traffic collision in Lake City

On November 13th at approximately 3:38 p.m. officers responded to the 10900 block of Lake City Way Northeast for reports of a two vehicle collision with injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victims were stopped at a red light in their 2007 Hyundai sedan when they were rear-ended by a 43-year-old male suspect driving an 2005 Ford Explorer.  Both the adult male driver and adult female front seat passenger of the Hyundai were pronounced dead at the scene by SFD medics.

SFD medics transported the driver of the Ford to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) with non-life-threatening injuries.  There were two juvenile female passengers in the back seat of the Ford who were also transported to HMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.

There were no citations issued at the scene, which is standard procedure in traffic incidents involving serious injuries, and that subsequently require collision reconstruction and extensive follow up investigation.

The road has been closed to all traffic in both directions while the collision scene is processed and will not re-open until approximately 9:00 p.m.
