On April 6th, at 7:00 am, Southwest Precinct officers responded to a call of a suicidal man armed with a gun in the 1100 Block of Alki Avenue Southwest. Officers arrived and located the man inside the park. Officers could see that the man was in crisis and had a gun. Officers spent the next 40 minutes attempting to resolve the situation. Negotiators and SWAT were enroute to the scene, and the Seattle Fire Department was staged nearby. Sadly, the man used the gun to take his life while officers were talking with him. The Medical Examiner’s Office responded and will handle the notifications.
