Reported Attack on Green Lake Path Early this Morning

A woman running around Green Lake early this morning reported being attacked by an unknown male who attempted to pull her into the bushes.  The victim was able to fight off her attacker and the incident was reported to police at 6:45 am.

At approximately 6:30 am a woman was running around the the outer jogging path along Green Lake.  She stated that an unknown man grabbed her near Wallingford Avenue North and Green Lake Drive North and tried to pull her into the bushes.  The woman was able to break free of the suspect and he took off running northbound.  Reportedly, a bicyclist in the area saw the suspect running and attempted to follow the suspect.  The bicyclist lost sight of the suspect in a residential area and gave up the chase.  The bicyclist never returned to the scene.

Officers arrived quickly after the 911 call came in, but unfortunately there was about a 15 minute delay from the time of the attack to when it was reported.  Officers contacted the victim, who, although shaken up, was not injured and declined medical attention.  Officers conducted a thorough area check but did not locate the suspect.

The suspect was described as a white male, possibly in his twenties, 5’7″-5’8″ tall, medium build, short brown hair, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt or jacket, and dark pants.  He was last reported running northbound from the location.
