A taxi driver was assaulted with a box cutter during a robbery early this morning in North Seattle.
At approximately 2:59 a.m. officers responded to the Safeway parking lot in the 8300 block of 15th Avenue NW for the report of a theft of a cell phone. Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect stole a cell phone from a Shuttle Express driver and cut the victim with a box cutter before fleeing the scene on foot.
Responding officers and canine units conducted an area search for the suspect.
A canine track led directly to the suspect who was hiding underneath a parked car at a nearby residence in the 8500 block of 14th Avenue NW. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
