Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are investigating a car/pedestrian collision that occurred earlier this morning at 35th Avenue NE and NE 75th Street.
At 10:39 am this morning a man got off a Metro coach and stepped into the southbound lanes of 35th Avenue NE. He was struck by a car driving south on 35th and sustained life-threatening injuries. Seattle Fire Department medics responded and treated the man at the scene and then transported him to Harborview Medical Center. As routine, a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer responded to the scene to evaluate the driver of the car. There were no obvious signs of impairment on the part of the driver.
TCIS detectives responded and are processing the scene. This remains an active and on-going TCIS investigation. Both directions of 35th Avenue NE are blocked at NE 75th while the investigation is being conducted. The roadway should reopen soon.
