Shooter Peacefully Surrenders to Police in Columbia City

Seattle Police officers arrested a 29-year-old woman in the Columbia City neighborhood Monday morning after she fired shots from her home and threatened another person.

Officers responded about 10 a.m. Monday to reports of gunfire near 51 Ave. South and South Brandon St. In addition to firing a handgun inside her home, the suspect reportedly threatened and pointed the weapon at a neighbor who’d walked over to investigate the noise.

Officers arrived quickly, located the house and surrounded it. The suspect left her home voluntarily and was taken into custody after speaking to a hostage negotiator for a few minutes. No one was injured during the incident.

Local schools were placed into lockdown as a precaution. It was lifted after the suspect was arrested.
