Gang Detectives are investigating a shooting involving three different cars in the Rainer Beach neighborhood Thursday night.

Officers were in the 9200 block of Rainier Ave South when they heard gunfire around 7:45 PM. According to witnesses gunfire was exchanged between the occupants of three different vehicles. Officers stopped one of the involved vehicles, which preliminarily appears to be the victim in the incident.

Witnesses reported to officers that after the shooting one of the suspect cars drove to a nearby business and ditched a gun in the bushes. Officers have since recovered the gun, as well as shell casings from the scene, which are being collected as evidence.

Gang Unit detectives are interviewing the man from the stopped car and will be leading the investigation. If you witnessed or have any information on the shooting please call 911 and ask to speak with an officer.
