Suspect Arrested After Man was Cut inside U District Starbucks

A suspect is in custody and a man is at Harborview Medical Center undergoing treatment for a serious cut to the back of his neck following an incident that occurred this evening inside a University District Starbucks store.

At approximately 8:30 this evening, a man entered the coffee shop located in the 4100 Block of University Way NE.  According to witnesses, he was causing a disturbance and was asked to leave.  Prior to leaving the store, he struck a patron in the back of the neck.  It was only later that the victim realized he had been cut with some type of sharp object, cutting his neck.

The suspect left the store and several witnesses followed him, keeping him in sight and updating 911 with his direction.  Officers responded to the area quickly and located the suspect inside another business down the street, at 43rd and University Way NE.  The suspect was arrested and positively identified by witnesses.  Seattle Fire responded to treat the victim and transport him to HMC.

This remains an active and on-going investigation. This information is preliminary, and could change as more details become available.  Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.  The suspect will be booked into the King County Jail later tonight.
