Two Separate Banks Robbed Tuesday Afternoon in North Seattle, One Suspect Arrested

The first incident occurred at about 12:45 pm on Tuesday afternoon in the Northgate neighborhood.  Officers responded to a report of a bank robbery that occurred in the 300 block of NE Northgate Way and arrested a 40-year-old male outside of the bank about five minutes later.  The man was positively identified by bank employees as the suspect.  He was arrested and was interviewed by detectives.  He was later booked into the King County Jail.

The second robbery occurred at 12:50 pm in the Wedgwood neighborhood.  Officers responded to the bank in the 8500 block of 35th Avenue NE.  A suspect, described as a black male, 20-30, wearing a black sweatshirt with a NIKE “swoosh” on it, armed with a handgun, robbed the bank and then fled in an unknown direction. No one was injured during this incident.  Detectives believe that the same suspect may have been involved in several other robberies in the last few days.  If anyone sees this suspect, do not approach.  Call 911.  If you have information concerning the identity of this suspect, please contact Seattle Police detectives at (206) 684-5535.
