Port of Seattle Requests Mutual Aid From Local Police Agencies at SeaTac

Last night the Port of Seattle Police Department requested mutual aid from the Seattle Police Department to facilitate free speech and provide public safety services during a demonstration at SeaTac airport. No SPD officer deployed pepper spray or made any arrests while assisting Port of Seattle police during the protest. Per normal force review protocol, the use of a bicycle barricade by SPD officers during the demonstration will be reviewed by department commanders.

SPD works closely with its regional partners to advance nation-leading de-escalation and crowd management procedures during these types of events. The Port of Seattle remains the primary point of contact for any inquiries related to this event.

The Seattle Police Department will continue outreach efforts in Seattle’s immigrant communities to ensure we are providing resources and support for all of Seattle’s residents.
