On September 29th East Precinct officers responded to two different calls of “shots fired”. The first occurred around 2:00 PM in the area of 15th and E. Alder. Witnesses reported hearing 3 to 5 shots and 2 possible suspects were observed fleeing on foot. An Area search located one shell casing in the middle of the street, just north of the intersection. One round was found to have gone through a cover on a boat then into the front door. No one home at that address at the time. Damage to the home appeared to be random. The second occurred in the 800 block of 23rd Avenue S. at approximately 9:00 PM. The witness said he had observed a suspect in a vehicle firing a black pistol. Further investigation led to discovery that at least one round had struck a house. The bullet traveled through the exterior of the house and lodged in the homes living room ceiling. Two more bullets struck a second residence, but lodged in the exterior wall of that structure. The occupants of both homes were contacted and no one was injured. Both said they had heard approximately 4 shots fired. An area search for the vehicle was conducted but it could not be located. Shell casings were recovered at the scene and submitted into evidence.
