Barricaded Subject

2800 Block E. Yesler Way- October 4th 11:05 a.m.

 

 

East Precinct officers responded to the 2800 block of  East Yesler to check the welfare of a female who was reported to be there with her boyfriend.  The boyfriend reportedly suffered from mental issues and had made threats to harm in the past.  The officers arrived and checked the residence but did not locate anyone. 

 

A short time later, South Precinct officers were called to a house in the 300 block of Gale Place S.,  where a female reported that her ex-boyfriend was outside her residence, banging on the door, attempting to gain entry. She went on to say that he was armed with a handgun.  When officers arrived the suspect was gone.  It was determined that this was the same suspect from the 2800 block of  East Yesler Way.   While officers were investigating the incident, the suspect  called from a cell phone, saying he had guns and was going to shoot officers.   

 

Officers called the suspect’s phone and it was answered by the suspect’s girlfriend. She reported that they were back at 

the East Yesler Way location.  Officers could not determine if the female was in harms way. 

 

East Precinct officers responded to the 2800 block of  E. Yesler Way and set up containment.  The suspect and the female would not come out.  South Precicnt officers, Hostage Negotiators, SWAT and Seattle Fire all were used in the process of bringing this incident to a successful close.  The suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.  He was booked into King County Jail for Investigation Domestic Violence Harassment, Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act, and Intimidating a Public Servant.  A request for an additional charge of Domestic Violence Property Damage was made.  Officers recovered the handgun.

The suspect made subsequent threats to “kill” officers, while enroute to the King County Jail.
