Man assaulted on “The Ave”

On October 28th at 10:14 PM, North Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of an assault at NE 47th and University Way NE.    A male victim, believed to be 37, was seen to be verbally arguing with 2 females and 4 males in their teens or early twenties in the 4500 block of University Way NE.  According to witnesses, the argument continued as the group moved north on University Way NE.  At 47th and University Way NE, the victim punched one of the young women in the face.  The four males and the two females then attacked the man, knocking him to the ground.  The group taunted the victim and continued to punch and kick him until he lost consciousness.

 

The group of suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.  Officers were unable to located them.  Several citizens witnessed the assault, or at least part of the disturbance.  Seattle Fire Department medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for emergency care.  His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.  This case will be investigated by the Seattle Police Homicide Unit.
