On November 9th at approximately 2:48 A.M., a Dodge Caravan was southbound on Martin Luther King Jr.Way passing South Norfolk St. As the vehicle entered the 9800 Block, the driver lost control of the van and left the roadway onto the Sound Transit’s light rail tracks. The vehicle struck the steel light pole that was located between the railroad tracks.
Four of the occupants of the vehicle received serious injuries to include fractured bones were transported to the hospital by the Fire Department and ambulances.
The Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded and took over the investigation. Representatives from Sound Transit also responded to inspect any damage to the tracks. TCIS will conduct the follow up investigation.
