On November 21 at 11:46 P.M. a blue Ford pickup truck was traveling northbound on 24 Avenue East at a very high rate of speed driven by a 41-year-old male with a 41-year-old male passenger. A witness was also traveling northbound on 24 Avenue East in the center lane. The witness observed how fast the Ford pickup was coming up behind him so he moved right into the curb lane. The Ford crossed over the double yellow line into the southbound traffic lanes to pass the witness’ vehicle. As the Ford approached East Newton Street a vehicle appeared traveling southbound toward it. The Ford abruptly moved back to the right into the northbound lanes. As it did so, the Ford left the roadway and struck a large tree. SFD responded to the scene and extricated the driver from the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to the scene and continues to actively investigate.
