On December 25th at 11:35 P.M. a Yamaha ATV was traveling westbound in the 4000 block of Southwest Barton Street. A witness heard a loud noise and then saw an adult male lying face down in the street by the Yamaha ATV in the westbound lane. When police units arrived on scene the vehicle operator was unconscious (he was not wearing a helmet). SFD Medics responded and transported the 41-year-old driver to an area hospital with possible serious head injuries, which were believed to be life threatening. Hospital personnel later gave an update of the driver’s medical condition stating he had facial injuries that were not life threatening. The ATV driver was cited for DUI, Negligent Driving, and violation of the helmet law. Officers continue to actively investigate the collision.
