On January 3 at approximately 2:08 a.m. a silver Subaru was stopped at a red traffic light in the southbound lanes of Lake City Way NE at NE 95th Street. While the Subaru waited for the red traffic light to change, a black BMW that was traveling southbound on Lake City Way NE collided into the rear of the stopped Subaru at a very high rate of speed.
The front and rear seat passengers of the Subaru and the front seat passenger of the BMW all sustained life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals by SFD Medics. The driver of the Subaru sustained minor injuries.
Officers specializing in the detection of alcohol and drug impairment evaluated the suspect (the driver of the BMW), who sustained minor injuries. Upon completion of that evaluation the suspect was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Vehicular Assault, a felony. Both vehicles were impounded. Traffic Collision Investigation Squad Detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate the collision.
