On 1/9/09 at approximately 2:35 AM West Precinct Officers responded to a call the 100 block of James St. that 3 people had been shot. Initial reports indicated that a suspect vehicle was still at the location. As the first officers arrived, several people were loading one of the victims into the trunk of that vehicle, which then sped off E/B on Yesler and ultimately ended up at HMC. The two remaining victims were treated by SFD at the scene and were also transported to HMC.
Two of the victims suffered life threatening injuries but were expected to survive. The third victim suffered a less serious gunshot wound and is expected to fully recover.
According to witnesses, the victims were walking up the street in the 100 block of James St. when an unidentified suspect, emerged from the alley and fired several shots, striking all three. The suspect then reportedly fled up the alley and disappeared. A K-9 team responded but were not able to establish a track.
Homicide Detectives and CSI responded as well and processed the scene.
