Shooting in the Rainier View neighborhood

On April 20th at 3:49 p.m., South Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 11600 block of Beacon Avenue S.  Upon arrival, officers located two young adult males who had been shot.  Seattle Fire Medics responded to the scene to provide emergency care to the victims.  One victim was shot in the hand/wrist area while the other was shot in the buttocks. Both have since been transported to Harborview Medical Center for additional treatment.  Their injuries have been characterized as non-life threatening.  No one else was injured.

It is believed that a young adult male suspect fired 6 or 7 shots at the victims before fleeing in a car.  A description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle is not being provided to the public at this time.  Officers are currently looking for both.   It appears that the victims and the suspect are known to each other.

Officers conducted a search and it does not appear that any of the gunshots damaged property.  Only the victims were struck by the gunfire.  The SPD Gang Unit is on scene and will take the lead in this investigation. They are currently searching for evidence and interviewing witnesses.

Immediately after the shooting, Rainier View Elementary was briefly locked down. It has since been reopened.
