On 05-06-09 at 4:47 p.m., a white, 1992, Ford, Pickup, driven by a 25-yoa male was traveling southbound on 34th Ave W. At the same time a 1998, Volvo, Station Wagon, driven by an 89-yoa female was traveling northbound on 34th Ave W. As the two vehicles approached W. Ruffner St the Ford, pickup crossed the centerline and started to make a left turn onto W. Ruffner St. well before the intersection. The pickup struck the Volvo head-on. The Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the 89-yoa to HMC with serious injuries.
A DUI/DRE officer responded to the scene and completed an evaluate of the 25-yoa pickup driver for signs of impairment and/or intoxication. There were signs of impairment, so he was arrested and transported to HMC, where a blood draw was completed. The 25-yoa was investigated and released and then admitted to HMC for his injuries.
Traffic Collision Investigators responded to investigate the collision and process the scene.
