On May 15th at approximately 5:55 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to a report of security fighting with a subject armed with a knife at a store located in the 5200 Block of 40th Avenue NE. The suspect was described as a black male, 28, heavy build with a black “doo-rag,” no shirt / tan pants. As officers were responding to the area, the suspect escaped security and fled the scene. Within a minute another call came in of the suspect gaining entry into a closed (but occupied) animal hospital across the street to the north. He was still armed with the knife. Fleeing that scene, he abandoned his knife outside the animal hospital and fled through the backyards to the north, attempting to gain entry into multiple residences in the 4000 block of NE 56th. Additional North Precinct officers responded to conduct an area check for the outstanding suspect. K-9 responded and attempted a track, recovering several likely stolen items suspected to have been abandoned by the suspect during his flight. K-9 and officers checked multiple residences and yards without locating the suspect. Officers were able to develop information concerning the identity of the suspect and the detectives will be tasked with the follow up investigation.
