Columbia City business robbed at knifepoint

On May 26th at 11:53 a.m. South Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of an armed robbery of a business in the 5000 block of Rainier Avenue S. Two adult male suspects entered the business and walked behind the counter towards the cash register. An adult male employee approached them to inquire what they were doing. One suspect produced a knife and struck the victim on the head with the handle.  The victim fought back.  During the struggle, the victim grabbed the blade of the knife, causing a laceration to his hand.  The suspects then stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene.

Numerous police units saturated the area, but could not prevent the suspects from escaping.  Seattle Fire Department medics responded and treated the victim.

Robbery detectives responded to the scene and will take the lead in this investigation.
