On May 28th at approximately 7:03 a.m. Seattle Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a deceased adult male at an apartment building in the 7400 block of Rainier Avenue South. Upon inspection it became apparent to SFD that the deceased had suffered homicidal trauma. Seattle Police were called and responded to the scene. The victim, a man in his 30’s, appeared to have been stabbed to death. Seattle Police Homicide and CSI Detectives were called to the scene to investigate and search for evidence. Preliminary investigation suggests that the 36-year-old male victim is a resident of the apartment complex. Suspect Valente Alvarez-Guerrero, a 40-year-old male, fled the scene. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Alvarez-Guerrero was arrested in an incident that occurred earlier at the same location that was reported to Seattle Police at 11:52 p.m. on May 27th. At approximately 6:00 p.m. tonight suspect Alvarez-Guerrero was arrested on the murder warrant in Fresno County, California. He was taken into custody following a vehicle pursuit involving the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol, and the U.S. Marshal’s Service. The suspect was driving his gray Mitsubishi truck at the time of arrest. SPD Homicide Detectives continue to actively investigate the case.
