On 5/31/09 at 8 p.m., a store security guard at a business in the 1400 block of NW Market, witnessed a shop lift and followed the suspect out of the store. The security guard attempted to talk with the suspect who ignored him. The security guard put his hand on the suspect’s arm to get him to stop when the suspect punched him in the stomach and continued to his car, a light blue Honda Civic. The security guard took the suspect’s keys out of his ignition in an effort to detain him for police. A witness saw what was unfolding and attempted to block the suspect in with his car. The suspect was able to some how start the car and hit the witnesses car as he left the scene. The suspect also struck the security guard with his car. The suspect left driving southbound on 14th NW. The security guard said he was “ not feeling very well” but declined medical attention. The suspect left behind the items he took. An area check for the suspect was unsuccessful.
