On June 13 at approximatley 1:11 a.m. officers responded to the 5500 block of University Way NE for a large fight disturbance. Upon arrival officers located a male victim with a deep cut to his upper arm. He indicated that a suspect broke a beer bottle and slashed him with it outside of a large party near NE 55th Street and 12 Avenue NE. Officers located the suspect nearby with superficial cuts to his palms and blood on him. The suspect was identified by both the victim and witnesses and was subsequently arrested.
While the incident was being investigated, bicycle officers heard glass breaking directly behind them and immediately noticed a subject fleeing. A brief foot pursuit followed and the suspect was taken into custody at NE 56th Street and 12 Avenue NE. A broken beer bottle was later found in the approximate area of where the officers had been standing.
The slashing suspect was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault (felony assault) and the suspect who fled from officers was investigated and released from the North Precinct with a request for charges of Obstructing an Officer.
