On September 1st at approximately 12:30 a.m., Seattle Police received a 911 call reporting a possible cougar in the Magnolia neighborhood. There was a second call from someone in the Greenwood neighborhood at about 12:00 p.m. ( noon) later that day, indicating that they had also seen a cougar near the Woodland Park Zoo. The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife has been notified and is aware of these calls. Fish and Wildlife is the lead agency for any wildlife encounters, and SPD is working closely with them. If anyone sees a cougar, they should call 911 and that information will be passed along to Fish and Wildlife. Below is a link to the Department of Fish and Wildlife’s website on cougars:
